Jeopardy!

Oh Jeopardy!, how I have missed you.  I used to watch every day.  Then the political campaigns began to heat up.  With all the political ads at every commercial break, I could not watch this show without going crazy.  For over a month I had to leave my Jeopardy! viewing in order to keep my sanity.  Now that the election is over, I am able to watch again.  That makes me very happy.

Jeopardy! is a long running, and well-known, television quiz show.  I do not know of anyone who has not heard the song to the Final Jeopardy! round.  It is used all over the place.  While there are a lot of different quiz shows, Jeopardy! is a little different because you have to answer in the form of a question.  Also there are not any options, just clues.  Either you know the answer or you do not.  If you know the answer you earn money, if you give an incorrect answer, you lose money.  Clue difficulty increases with the money values.  The only assistance offered comes from the clue itself.  Sometimes when I do not know the answer off the top of my head, I am able to figure it out based on the category and the wording in the clue.  Even though I am sometimes able to decipher what the answer is, I prefer just knowing it.  With all the answers I have known, I figure Jeopardy! owes me a lot of money.  That, of course, is not taking into consideration the answers I get wrong.  Once those are figured in, I probably break even.  But why would I want to count the ones I got wrong?  Where is the fun in that?

I would love to get on Jeopardy! and be on stage with the great host, Alex Trebek.  To me, and probably many other viewers, Alex Trebek is Jeopardy!.  Without him, I do not have any idea what the show would be like.  I compare it to The Price is Right without Bob Barker.  Mr. Barker was the host for so long; it is not quite the same without him there.  I will be very sad the day Mr. Trebek retires.  What will the show do without him?  That is not something I need to worry about today.  My concern is, if I did somehow manage to get on the show, would I even remember my name?   Filmed in front of an audience, I may not!   If I cannot remember that, how in the world would I remember everything else?  But one never knows.  I may surprise myself and be just fine.  First things first, I have to get on the show.  Maybe one day I will.
