Flip This House

There is something about houses and remodeling that absolutely fascinates me.   Maybe it is because I have always loved seeing how things are made.   With the television show Flip This House I am able to put my interests together and watch different teams of people change houses from run down states to inviting homes.                     Throughout the series, each episode features a professional team from a different city.   The members go around town and purchase houses at low costs that are greatly in need of repair.   The show then follows as the house is remodeled.   Viewers are able to watch the difficulties that arise and the solutions necessary to continue with the project.   In the end the remodel is finished and the house is put up for sale.   During the episode, the costs for everything are shown on the screen and we are able to see the potential profit.                 While there are many different teams throughout the series, my favorite group as a

To Kiss a Spy by Jane Feather

To Kiss a Spy is the second book in the Kiss Trilogy written by Jane Feather.   While many of the characters are the same as the first book, The Widow’s Kiss , the main character is different.   Lady Guinevere is not at the center of the story this time around.   Instead, this book is set several years after the first and Lady Guinevere’s oldest daughter Pen is at the center of the action.                           Lady Pen Bryanston has not only lost her husband but also given birth to a stillborn child.   At least that is what everyone keeps telling her.   She knows her husband died, but Pen is certain she heard her baby cry before they took him away.   Everyone, including her close-knit family, doubts her.   Their lack of belief forces Pen to figure out the truth of what happened to her child alone.   Thankfully, it does not take Pen long to acquire the help of a French spy by the name of Owen d’Arcy.   Initially unbeknownst to Pen (a friend to Henry VIII’s eld

Auction Kings

As what seems to be my usual mode of operation, I came upon this show by accident. I was flipping through the channels and landed on this reality show filmed in an Atlanta area auction house. Different things come through the door every day, and the range of items is absolutely fascinating.          Gallery 63 is the auction house owned and operated by Paul Brown. He works with his long time office manager Cindy, picker Jon, and handyman Delfino. Each episode features three unique items where the viewer hears the story behind the item and is then able to witness the appraisal. The sellers let Gallery 63 know what monetary value they would like to receive at auction, but it is not always realistic. The appraisers occasionally are on the same page with the sellers, but more often than not they are a bit off one way or the other. Sometimes the difference is drastic. However, no matter what the seller wants or what the appraiser states something is worth, the story at auction

Believe It or Not by Tawna Fenske

Psychics, male exotic dancers, rock music, humor, and romance.   What else could a book possibly need?                               Violet does not believe in psychics.   For most people this is not a big deal.   You just go along with your life not believing in psychics, end of story.   This is not a possibility for Violet.   She does not believe in psychics and her mother, Moonbeam, happens to be one.   Living across the country as an accountant alleviates some of the difficulties with this situation.   It actually seems to work out very well for Violet.   She can have a “normal” life.   Then Moonbeam becomes injured and Violet must return home to care for not only her mother but the psychic business.   Violet is not quite sure how she is going to pull this off.   While Moonbeam believes Violet is also psychic, Violet does not.   Despite this, Violet is determined to keep her mother’s business running.                 While keeping a psychic business going wou
