Night Visions by Imagine Dragons

This CD took me by surprise.   I fully expected it to be hard rock all the way through.   Before picking up the CD I had only heard two of the songs, “Radioactive” and “It’s Time”.   Both had elements of the hard rock sound to them, especially “Radioactive” which has been used for the commercials of at least two different TV shows.   This is what led me to think all the songs would be this way.   I was completely wrong.   There are many different influences throughout the album which leads to no two songs sounding alike.   This suits me just fine as I much prefer each song to be different from the others.                 “Radioactive” is the first song on the album and it is also the hardest.   I like the song, which is good because it is the one that gets stuck in my head most often.   Then immediately with the next song, “Tiptoe”, the sounds change.   There is much more of a techno dance beat feel to it.   With the third song there is a change again, and so on.

NCIS

For a long time I did not have any interest in this show.   I do not know if it was the whole head slap thing, or what, but I always sighed when I saw yet another NCIS marathon on one of the cable channels.   Did they not have anything else to air?   Then one day I actually watched an episode.   I cannot remember why.   Maybe the premise interested me, or I just left the TV on.   No matter what the reason, that day is when I slowly began to be a watcher of NCIS .                       In essence, NCIS is a mystery show.   A team from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service solves cases involving members of the military.   Led by former Marine, Leroy Jethro Gibbs (Mark Harmon), more commonly referred to as Gibbs, the team consists of those in the field and those in the lab.   The current field agents are Timothy McGee (Sean Murray), Ziva David (Cote de Pablo), and Anthony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly).   During the first couple of seasons, before the arrival o

Last Wool and Testament: A Haunted Yarn Shop Mystery by Molly MacRae

I have found a new mystery series to read!   This may only be thrilling to me, but that is okay.   I get excited about books, especially when it is a series.   Not that I exactly need a new series to read.   This one has so many elements I love that I was really excited when I picked the first book, Last Wool and Testament , up from the library.   Not only is there a mystery, but the book also has a ghost as well as a fiber and fabric shop.   All things that are right up my alley.                 Kath has returned to Blue Plum, Tennessee to attend her grandmother’s, Ivy's, funeral and clean up Ivy’s affairs.   One of the things she must figure out what to do with is the fiber and fabric shop Ivy owned, the Weaver’s Cat.   But the shop is not the first thing on Kath’s mind.   She is most concerned with going through Ivy’s house.   The problem is when Kath goes to the house, she finds it locked and with a note claiming Ivy owes money in rent.   Kath does not un

Buying and Selling

The Scott brothers are back!   In their show, Buying and Selling , Drew and Jonathan Scott, also known as The Property Brothers, concentrate on selling one house and purchasing another.   There is still a renovation and house hunting, but the objective of each is a little different than in the show Property Brothers .                 At the beginning of each Buying and Selling episode, the Scott brothers go into a home and tell the owners what needs to be changed in order to sell their house.   This does not usually go over well.   The owners tend to take what is said quite personally.   To be fair, Drew and Jonathan can get a tad vicious in this part, so I can see why the owners get upset.   I understand the need for the brothers to be honest, but there are times when I question the tact.   Throwing a quilt into the hallway like it is garbage, as is what happened in one episode, is going too far and something I still have not fully forgiven Jonathan for.   Somethi

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

Let me be honest.   The main, and nearly only reason I wanted to see The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey was because of Richard Armitage.   Ever since I watched him play Guy of Gisborne in Robin Hood I have been hooked.   So of course when I see Mr. Armitage in something, I am intrigued.   This does not mean I rush out and see everything Mr. Armitage is in, but I do give it a second look.   When I first heard The Hobbit was being made into a movie I was not really interested.   Then I heard Mr. Armitage was going to be in it and I reconsidered.   I had seen The Lord of the Rings trilogy, the commercials made it seem as though the film would be funny, and the movie was not about Frodo, so I decided to give The Hobbit a chance.   It was worth it.       I tried to read The Hobbit when I was in college.   Whether or not I finished the book I do not remember.   I do know that while I was reading the book I did not remember a single word.   It and I did not get along.
