The Truth About Love by P!nk

In the movie Mr. Holland’s Opus , there is a scene where Richard Dreyfuss as Mr. Holland talks about a John Coltrane album.   He says at first he hated the album.   Then he played it again.   And again.   Over and over he played the album until he could not stop playing it.   That is how I felt about The Truth About Love by P!nk.   I did not hate the album by any means.   It just did not appeal to me.   There were some songs I liked, but most did not grab my attention.   I was disappointed since I really like P!nk.                 Fortunately I have a somewhat strict rule that I listen to a CD at least three times before I truly decide if it is not for me.   I do not do this for every album, some I know right away will not be my type of thing, but most I try to listen to three times.   This is what I did for The Truth About Love .   I am so glad I did.   The second time I listened to it, I found another song I liked.   Then I played it again and found another asp

Numb3rs

To those who know me it is clear that I am a very creative person.   I write, create art, design quilts, and spent many years working behind the scenes in theatre.   What some may be surprised to discover is how much I love math.   Yep, I said math.   There is something about logic, puzzles, and figuring out the solution to a problem that is absolutely thrilling to me.   When I heard there was a show where crimes were solved by using math, I was ecstatic.   That show is Numb3rs .                              Charlie Eppes (David Krumholtz) is a math genius.   He went off to college when he was barely a teenager and afterwards became an honored mathematician and professor.   His math ability is quite renowned and Charlie frequently surprises his FBI agent brother, Don (Rob Morrow), with all the high security and secret projects he has worked on.   Part of the reason Don is so surprised is because he does not know much about Charlie’s life.   When the series begins

Posted to Death: A Simon Kirby-Jones Mystery by Dean James

Recently my mom and I were discussing different book series’ that suddenly ended.   There was not any notice or even a hint that the series’ were not going to carry on to further books.   I wondered if maybe there had been new books and we just missed them.   If we had not, I wanted to know if there was any information out there to explain the abrupt endings.   The mysteries about Simon Kirby-Jones were one of the series’ I investigated.   In my research, I was only able to find the four books I had already read and I did not find a reason as to why the series ended.   Disappointed, as I really enjoyed the Simon Kirby-Jones books, I decided to read them again.   There is nothing wrong with enjoying the ones that do exist, beginning with Posted to Death .                   Simon Kirby-Jones is an American who has recently moved to a small English village.   New to the area, Simon does not know many people and the villagers do not know much about him.   They kn

Two Brothers

Nearly the entire time I watched Two Brothers , I was certain I was not going to write about it.   The movie was just too sad.   I am a huge animal lover, and there were some parts of the movie that were too painful to watch.   It was not until the last few minutes that I decided that even though this movie was hard to watch, I had to write about it.                           The main characters in this film are two tiger cubs.   They live a happy, playful life until men descend upon the deserted temple where the tiger cubs and their parents live.   The men, led by hunter Aidan McRory (Guy Pearce), are there to strip the temple of its art and beauty.   They do not know tigers live in the temple as well.   Once one of the adult tigers is discovered, McRory and his men go after it.   The mother tiger is able to escape with one of her cubs, but she cannot get back to save the other.   As the cub struggles to escape, the father tiger tries to protect it from the m

The Cosby Show

There has not been a lot on television lately, in my opinion.   Yes, there are programs actually airing, but nothing is of interest to me.   Off the top of my head I can think of one show I currently make sure I watch every week.   The rest of the time I usually go through the channels and see what intrigues me.   Mostly what I have been turning to is a show I have loved and laughed with for a long time, The Cosby Show .                             Dr. Heathcliff Huxtable (Bill Cosby), also known as Cliff, is a devoted husband and father.   His wife Clair (Phylicia Rashad) is an attorney and they have five children together.   Cliff loves his children, but in so many ways he cannot wait for all of them to move out so he can be alone with his wife.   At least one of the kids is always up to something, which drives Cliff crazy.   This is not to say Cliff is not usually up to something himself.   He is always masterminding some plan, even if it is just how to hide
