My Current Interest

                 Despite this movie being set at Christmas time, I wouldn’t call it a Christmas movie.   The holiday itself plays such a little part in what is going on.   Instead, the story is far more about relationships and finding yourself than anything to do with Christmas.                 Iris Simpkins (Kate Winslet) is heartbroken.   The man she has been in love with for years is engaged to another woman.   A fact announced at the company holiday party.                 To escape with her grief, Iris decides to put her house up for a temporary trade.   Someone will stay in her Surrey cottage while she stays in their home.   The woman she swaps homes with is Amanda.                       Amanda Woods (Cameron Diaz) is a movie trailer creator in Los Angeles.   She’s just broken up with her boyfriend who was cheating on her.   Spending the Christmas holiday in England seems like the exact type of break she needs.                 The problem is, Amanda is bored out of her min

             One of the big things I have always admired about Jessica Fletcher is the opportunities she gets to travel.  In The Highland Fling Murders, she travels to England and Scotland.  Two places I would love to see.  Unfortunately for Jessica, murder gets in the way of a good time.                 Mystery writer Jessica Fletcher is finally taking her friend, Scotland Yard Chief Inspector George Sutherland, up on his offer to visit his castle in Scotland.  She will be staying there, along with eleven friends from Cabot Cove.  But first she must do some book promoting in London.  After that, she and her friends will be able to go off to the small village of Wick in Scotland.                 What starts out as a great adventure quickly turns terrifying when two of Jessica’s friends are held hostage at the Tower of London.  The man holding Alicia and Jed Richardson hostage claims he will kill them unless he gets to talk to Parliament about one of his ancestors.  That ancestor

Image provided by Kensington Books.            Well, I must say Juliet has toned down her relationship meddling now she has her own relationship to concentrate on.   This was my wish with the last book .   How long this behavior will last, though, I have no idea.                        Juliet Brody is about to get married.   She has been crazy about Reverend Simon Brook for quite some time.   Now they are going to be husband and wife.                 Candy maker Bailey King is the maid of honor.   She’s dating Juliet’s son, Sheriff’s Deputy Aiden Brody.   Juliet loves Bailey and would be thrilled for Bailey to become her daughter-in-law.   In fact, if she wasn’t getting married herself, Juliet would probably be doing her usual habit of harassing Bailey about marrying her son every day as she usually does.                 But, today is Juliet and Reverend Brook’s day.   They are to be married and live happily ever after.                 At least that is the hope.   The w

           Okay, as much as I like Agatha Raisin , someone really needs to tell Agatha off.   Far too much she thinks the world revolves around her and her alone.   If she has something going on, and even sometimes when she doesn’t, nothing in anyone else’s life can have any importance.   It’s all about her.
