Paranormal Witness

It is probably well known by now that I cannot seem to go too long without getting hooked on some sort of ghost show.   My most recent one is Paranormal Witness .   It reminds me of a show I used to watch called A Haunting , but scarier.   At least it is when I am watching at night and have had a long day.   While I am fine, I do not get nightmares or anything, for people who are jumpy with these kinds of shows, I recommend watching during the day.                            Each episode tells the story of a real life paranormal experience.   As the story is being told, the show jumps back and forth from a reenactment to the actual witnesses relaying what happened.   While all the occurrences are clearly life altering, some are far worse than others.   Some are so bad, I wonder if the people ever fully recover from the events.                 At the beginning of each episode, everything is normal.   The viewers learn a little background about the people involve

Chicago

This past weekend my Mom and I took the train down to Chicago and walked around.   And walked.   And walked.   My body really hurt the next day.   It is not used to doing that much walking or for that long.   But I had a great time so the pain was worth it.                                After getting off the train and leaving the station, the first place we went to was Xoco.   It is a restaurant owned by Chef Rick Bayless.   Last year I went to his Frontera Grill restaurant, so I knew the food at Xoco would be good.   I had the yogurt and granola.   For the most part I am not a huge granola person, but this one was fantastic.   It was full of nuts and quite filling.   I also tried the Aztec hot chocolate.   If you like thick drinks and spice, definitely give this drink a try.                 From Xoco we went to down to Michigan Avenue.   The first stop was the Hershey store.   I love seeing the merchandise that is based off the Hershey’s brand candy.   There

2013 Tony Awards

I cannot believe I almost forgot to watch the Tony Awards this year.   For weeks I had been looking forward to the awards show.   But something happened on Friday that made it completely slip my mind.   Maybe I would have remembered again by the time they aired Sunday night.   Or maybe not.   Thankfully the Chicago Tribune mentioned the upcoming show (or was it the TV magazine?) and I was reminded.   I was so concerned I would forget again that I wrote the show down on my calendar.   The moment the festivities started I was so happy I did not miss it.                      Neil Patrick Harris was once again the host.   In my opinion, he did a fantastic job.   Mr. Harris is really good at what he does.   He reminds me of the greatness of Billy Crystal at the Oscars.   Mr. Harris’s song and dance numbers are really good.   Throughout the show he is also funny without being insulting.   That is a really hard combination to find lately.   Maybe Mr. Harris should host

Be a Free Range Human: Escape the 9 to 5, Create a Life You Love and Still Pay the Bills by Marianne Cantwell

This may sound absolutely crazy, but I am happiest when I do not have a job.   I am not talking about the actual status of being unemployed.   That is not very fun at all.   It is miserable applying to job after job while figuring out how to pay the bills.   What I love about not having a job is the freedom it brings me.   I can spend the day as I choose and on my own schedule.   Now some may think that when I am not filling out applications I am sitting around doing nothing.   That is so far from the truth.   When I am between jobs, which as a temp can happen periodically, I get so much done.   I have so many things around the house to do, and they all apply to what I want my career to be.                   Lately, as each day passes, the desire for this freedom has increased.   Somehow I have to find a way to live life on my own terms doing what I love.   That is why I have started reading books about how to have this freedom while also making an income.   My fa
