Ghost Adventures

Gloomy nights are perfect for ghost stories.  Thankfully there are plenty of what I call haunted shows on television.  These are shows full of people doing real life investigations and revealing their findings to the viewing public.  Sadly, my favorite show is no longer in existence.  I do not know if it is airing anywhere in the U.S. and I have read that it stopped filming.  With the loss, I looked into other shows and found one that I continue to watch, Ghost Adventures .  The ironic this is when the show first came out, I could not stand it.  In my mind they were too aggressive and strong in their provocation.  That was not the only thing that bothered me.  At the time I could not pinpoint what the thing was.  Then I read an article where someone mentioned this show.  I will not repeat what was said, but they made me realize that last bothering thing, and I have been fine ever since.                 The premise is three guys; Zak, Nick, and Aaron; go to different appa

Murder She Wrote

Laugh at me all you want.   People have before.   I am here to admit that Murder She Wrote is one of my favorite television shows of all time.   It began airing in the 1980s and ended quite some time ago.   As I am unable to find the show on reruns, I watch the DVDs.   Although I would think I have seen all the episodes by now, some multiple times, once in awhile one I have not seen pops up on a disc.   This is always a pleasant surprise.   In any case, new to me or not, I always enjoy watching.                                 The series stars Angela Lansbury as mystery writer Jessica Fletcher.   She lives in the town of Cabot Cove, Maine but travels extensively both for business and to visit friends and family.   While this in theory is very nice, there is one glitch.   Everywhere Mrs. Fletcher goes a murder occurs.   No matter how hard the case seems, or how vague the clues, Mrs. Fletcher solves the mystery every time.                 What I like about this show

NARI Spring Home Improvement Showcase

When I was younger my parents would stop and look at houses.   It drove me crazy and I became very bored as they stood and discussed the different aspects.   Then there were the long trips to the home improvement stores.   Although, I must admit, I did enjoy looking at and playing with bathroom and kitchen displays.   I do not know why this absolutely fascinated me, but it did.               With all that I felt when I was younger, it is quite ironic that now I absolutely love houses.   Which is why recently I spent two days touring and looking at them.   During the NARI Spring Home Improvement Showcase (NARI stands for National Association of the Remodeling Industry) I had the option of touring nineteen different homes and seeing what types of remodeling was done.   I saw nine different homes, which is a lot when you consider not all the houses are in the same county much less the same city.   Each location used a different design house and definitely different ideas.

Me by Ricky Martin

My mom holds a belief that certain books come her way when she needs them most.   Some give her ideas while others have words of wisdom.   I have experienced this as well, but not to the same extent.   Then I came upon Ricky Martin’s book.   Me took me by surprise.   When I picked it up from the library I did not expect that it would be so philosophical.   It was just what I needed.                 Throughout the book Mr. Martin talks about how things come when they are supposed to.   He also emphasizes that what we go through in life makes us who we are.   As someone determined and anxious to get myself to where I want to be, this hit me hard.   Through all the road blocks I have run into, these thoughts have always been in the back in my mind.   To have them reaffirmed made me more confident that my mindset is on the correct path.                 While the above discussion is worth reading the book on its own, Mr. Martin’s life story is also fascinating.   I knew h

Monk

I miss Monk .   For years it was one of my favorite shows.   Every Friday night I was excited to watch a new episode and see what Detective Adrian Monk was up to.   The series ended over a year ago, and while I like the way it ended, I am still sad to see it gone.   Thankfully there is a local channel that plays the reruns.   I do not know how many times I have seen each episode, but I still sit down and watch, ready to enjoy.                 Monk is a detective, a genius detective, who sees things no one else does.   While this is great for solving crimes, it does not come without some difficulties.   Compulsions and phobias abound.   From touching things to being afraid of milk, these traits prevent Monk from being as efficient as he could be.   This is where the assistants come in.   The series began with Sharona who actually started out as his nurse.   Part way through the series, Sharona moved to New Jersey and Natalie becomes his new assistant.   She does great t
