School Spirits

With all the different ghost related things I read and watch, it probably seems strange that I would get excited about one particular show from only the commercials.   This is what happened with School Spirits .   It is a show about real life ghost experiences that happened on college campuses.   The reason this intrigued me so is because it reminds me of a college experience of my own.   No, I did not see a ghost (although there were buildings on campus that were apparently haunted).   Instead what happened had to do with a similar show I was watching alone one night.   Usually I am not jumpy, but for some reason that night watching hauntings on campuses put me a little on edge.   There were small noises that eventually brought me to call out to my roommate to see if he was home.   He was not.   Clearly I got through the night okay, but ever since I have been fascinated with what I call “My Haunted Shows.”                 The way this show is set up, based upon

The Last Boyfriend: Book Two of the Inn Boonsboro Trilogy by Nora Roberts

The Last Boyfriend is the second installment in the Inn Boonsboro Trilogy. All the main cast of characters from the first book have returned, but the focus is no longer on Beckett and Clare. This time the attention is on Beckett’s brother, Owen, and their friend, pizza restaurant owner, Avery.                   Years ago Owen and Avery were each other’s first significant other. At the time Avery was five years old, and it was all her idea. I am sure you can figure out how serious that relationship was. Now Owen and Avery are adults and have had a good friendship for years. They are often together with Owen using Avery’s restaurant to work and hold meetings. With so much time together, it is not surprising feelings between the two of them develop. As they are friends, there is hesitance to form a relationship, but both Owen and Avery decide to just see where things go.                For the most part everything runs smoothly and they find

Wimbledon 2012

Men’s semi-finals Friday of Wimbledon was a very good day. After the first match I was jumping and dancing around house because my favorite player had made it to the finals. If I was this excited about just getting to the finals, can you imagine how thrilled I was when he won? Let us just say I was very happy, which is quite the understatement. Extremely happy, overjoyed, through the roof; pick one and it still may not cover how I felt. For me, this win, was a perfect way to end two weeks of fantastic tennis coverage.          This year ESPN was able to broadcast every single day of the play at Wimbledon. There was not, to my knowledge, any inability to show certain matches because of different contracts, or limited airing for the same reason. Coverage began early in the morning in my time zone (in England it was the near start if not the actual start of the daily schedule) and went through the end play for the day. During the first week the broadcast was

Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Before this movie I had never seen a Planet of the Apes film. None of the ones with Charlton Heston, or even the version directed by Tim Burton, did I see. It was not until Rise of the Planet of the Apes that I was even all that intrigued to see one of the films. There was something about this one that was interesting. Then to have James Franco in the cast, well, that just made me want to see it more. When I received the disc I got a very happy surprise. Not only is Mr. Franco a part of this film, but John Lithgow is as well. With two actors I highly respect, I was all set to watch.                 Searching for a cure for Alzheimer’s disease, scientist Will (Franco) uses chimpanzees as test subjects. When a mother chimp in his study is killed because of a misunderstanding, Will takes the baby home to save it from the mother’s fate. His father, Charles (Lithgow), who is suffering from the same disease Will is trying to cure, likes the chimp. They n
