Murder, Plainly Read: An Amish Quilt Shop Mystery by Isabella Alan

Here we go again.   Angie Braddock has returned for her fourth book in the Amish Quilt Shop Mystery series.   This time Angie gets talked into running the library book sale.   She isn’t too happy about this as she does still have her own shop to run, but she knows that helping with something like this book sale will be good publicity for her shop.   At least that’s what she thinks until a body is found in the library bookmobile.   With her friend Austina as the main suspect, Angie sets out to find the real killer, all the while wondering if the police have had the true culprit all along.                    While every case Angie takes on has its difficulties, this one seems to have far more than usual.   That’s because the man who was murdered was the bishop of a very conservative Amish sect.   The likelihood of anyone speaking to Angie is slim.   Not only is she an outsider, but she is also a woman.   Two things Angie does not necessarily have to fight against w

Cranford: Return to Cranford

Not too long after the run of Cranford , Cranford: Return to Cranford was created.   Nearly all of the original cast returned for this mini-series, and some new characters were added as well.   The main themes also remained the same.   Once again, the stories and lives of these characters were surrounded by love, death, and the train.                 Now that her brother has returned, Matty Jenkyns (Judi Dench) no longer has to worry so much about money.   Instead, Matty spends her time happily caring for the daughter of her housekeeper and enjoying the town as it is.   To make things even better, an old family has returned to town.   They had gone away for awhile, moving to the sea in hopes of improving the health of their matriarch.   Now that she has died, the family has returned, bringing with them a feud between father and son about what the son’s future should be.   William (Tom Hiddleston) wants to be an engineer for the railroad, but his father, Mr. Buxto

Image obtained from www.penguinrandomhouse.com .                I have found yet another mystery series.   This time it’s by the same author as The Amish Quilt Shop Mysteries but writing under a different name.   While I don’t immediately go for every series an author I like writes, I didn’t know how I could pass up a mystery series centered around a magical bookshop.   Something like that is right up my alley.                    After a desperate call from her grandmother, Violet Waverly returns to her hometown for the first time in twelve years.   An incident surrounding the death of her best friend has kept Violet away, but her Grandma Daisy claiming she is sick forces Violet to set aside her aversions to the place where she grew up, and return to the town she never wanted to see again.   That’s why it should come as no surprise that when Violet finds Grandma Daisy in perfect health, Violet’s first instinct is to turn around and go home.                 Not understandi
