CMA Awards
There are probably only two music awards shows I watch during the year. Both happen to be country music. The irony of this is country music is probably what I listen to the least. Despite this, for some reason I feel compelled to watch the CMA Awards every year.
The Country Music Association Awards is in many ways a giant concert. I think that is why I like it so much. It is performances without a lot of flash and distractions. Occasionally there is a little something extra. This year one of the performances had aerial acrobats. While these women were noticeable, they did not divert attention from the talent on stage. Everything is about the music during this ceremony. That is something I really appreciate.
Of course there are awards. They are spread out through the night but the show is not overtaken by long acceptance speeches. The winners are concise while making it feel as though they have not left anyone out in their acknowledgements. Short and sweet, that works for me.
The hosts this year, as in years past, were Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood. When I saw the commercials informing they would be hosting again, I was thrilled. They do a really good job. Everything runs smoothly and they are funny. The sketches they perform are well done. I hope they continue to host together in the future.
