Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles
With so many celebrities and
entertainment industry people, one would expect Los Angeles to have large and elaborate homes. The show Million Dollar Listing Los
Angeles shows this is not an unfounded belief. Three L.A. realtors are followed around as
they try to sell houses and battle with their own personal problems. I could do without all the personal drama (the
clients provide enough) but I can ignore that in order to see the houses and
what it takes to sell them.
The
three realtors are Madison, Josh A., and Josh F. Each work in different parts of L.A. and have
different styles and ideas when it comes to selling. Sometimes a house is sold in the traditional
way. There are regular open houses and
showings, with nothing really special to make this particular home stand out
except for the house itself. Many times
that is all it takes. Then there are the
others that take a bit more creativity.
This is where things can really get interesting. I never quite know what the men are going to
come up with. There have been openings
with boat rides, an art show, and a circus theme to name a few.
Once
an offer on a house is made the negotiation process begins. This could possibly take up half the show on
its own. Very rarely do the negotiations
go easily. Sellers want too much and
buyers want to pay too little. That is
just the money. At times there are items
in the home that come under dispute. I
am amazed at what people expect on both the buyer and the seller sides. As an outsider I often shake my head.
While the methods to sell and the negotiations
are interesting, what I really like is when the houses themselves are gone
through. No two are exactly alike. There are also a lot of surprises. Standing on the outside of the house one
would think they know what is going to be on the inside. So often this is not true. The outside and inside can be drastically
different. One example of this is my
favorite house of any episode. From the
outside, except for the door, I would not expect the incredible décor inside. Well, incredible to me. It is definitely not to everyone’s
taste. Having kind of a gothic tone, for
lack of a better word, I fell in love literally at the door. Except for the glass walkway, there wasn’t
anything I could pinpoint and say I did not like. It is somewhere I would love to live. There is just the little problem of not
having $18,000 a month for rent. Plus I
do not live in L.A. Details, details. I will just watch that episode repeatedly and
dream.
