Weeding

There are people in this world who have absolutely immaculate gardens.  The plants are spaced perfectly and everything is alive and healthy.  Even more important, there is not a single weed in sight.  I do not know how they accomplish this because no matter what I do there is always a weed somewhere.  While this would drive some crazy, I have found a way to make the every growing weeds a positive thing.  I use pulling weeds as a stress reliever.
It wasn’t until recently that I discovered how great pulling weeds is.  I feel such a sense of accomplishment when I see a patch that was once full of weeds now clear and ready to let flowers come through.  This is especially true when I am able to get rid of weeds that are very stubborn and fight to stay in the ground.  The removal of those gives me an extra sense of pride.
While I have a great time pulling out the weeds, I will admit there are some I am reluctant to even touch.  They are just too pretty for me to get rid of them.  I know that may sound odd, how can a weed be pretty, but some of them truly are.  They are more like flowers to me than weeds with all their pretty colors, and I wonder how they ever got categorized under the very negative term of weeds.  My lack of understanding is why some of the weeds do not get pulled.  At least they don’t until they die on their own, then I will take them out.  Until then I enjoy their colors and how they mix with everything else.
When it comes to the weeds I do decide to pull, it does not take long for the stress of whatever is on my mind to melt away. No matter how much time I spend with the weeds, it can be as little as ten minutes, I always feel better. I don’t know if it’s because I’m out in the fresh air or because I am doing some physical activity that weeding has such great benefits. Maybe it’s a mixture of both. Either way I have found that pulling the weeds helps clear my mind. When I am done I am able to get back to my work without any problems. If I decide to weed at the end of the day, I use it as a way to wrap up all I have been working on so I can have an enjoyable evening. It really doesn’t matter when I weed because there is always a positive benefit. I end up feeling good and my garden looks a lot happier too.
