            Men can be so frustrating sometimes.   This is especially true when they won’t fully explain the reason behind why they did what they did.   Then, the other person moves on with their life, and the man wonders what happened!   It’s so exasperating.   Yes, Sully, I’m talking about you.                 The production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream is the talk of the town in the small town of Briar Creek.   So many people are trying out for the show, including some surprising ones like the strict circulation desk librarian, Ms. Cole.                 One person who is not trying out is library director Lindsey Norris .   She does agree to help with the costumes, though.   And that is where things start to become sticky.       ...

          A while ago I read an article about different film and TV versions of Pride and Prejudice .   I was shocked to find that the version starring Colin Firth was only vaguely mentioned in a statement about there having been a mini-series at one time.   No offense intended to any other gentlemen who have played Mr. Darcy, but to me, Colin Firth is the one and only Darcy.   In my mind, Mr. Firth epitomizes how this character is, struggling with his feelings, wanting to keep them distant and non-existent, but not able to be rid of them.   So, to have Mr. Firth’s work barely mentioned drove me crazy.   To ease my frustrations, I decided to watch his version of Pride and Prejudice (a mini-series put on by BBC and A&E), and see my one and only Darcy.                 Following the novel by Jane Austen, Pride & Prejudice centers mainly around the char...

            I’m catching up!   There are only three more books to go before I’ve finished the series.   Finished as to what is published so far, I mean.   You never know when another book for a series will suddenly show up.                    Things are not looking good for the bookmobile, no matter how hard librarian Minnie Hamilton tries to save it.   The grant Minnie applied for to keep the bookmobile running was not received.   Then, to make matters worse, a bookmobile volunteer was killed.   Nothing seems to be going right.                 Fortunately, Roger Slade wasn’t on the bookmobile when he was killed.   He was just on the route, taking the place of his wife, Denise.   Roger and Minnie had only met that morning, so they did not know each ...

               I don’t know what it is.   I’m on the third book of the Murder, She Wrote series, and I still can’t hear Angela Lansbury’s voice.   Maybe it’s because the book is written in first person while the TV show is essentially in third, without the ability to hear internal thoughts.   Something like that might make all the difference.                 Jessica Fletcher definitely needs a vacation.   She had a long illness, then had to plug away in order to get her book done.   Now it’s time for Jessica to go off and take some time for herself.   Fortunately, she has two old Cabot Cove friends who have opened an inn on the island of St. Thomas.   A visit there will give Jessica a time to relax and let go of her worries.   Except, as what usually happens with Jessica, that is not at all what happens.    ...

              I’m in kind of an odd position.   I recommended the Bookmobile Cat Mysteries to my mom after I read the first one.   Now she’s read them all and I’ve only read the first two.   When she asks me a question, I don’t have any idea what she’s talking about!   I have a lot of catching up to do.                 It makes librarian Minnie Hamilton very happy that the bookmobile she drives is doing so well.   Her cat, Eddie, is a big reason for the success, but that doesn’t matter.   As long as the bookmobile is a success, the how or why is not important.                 Even though Minnie has fun with the bookmobile, there is always the chance for unexpected things to happen.   Like the day a woman flags her down and asks Minnie to help with her hus...

                Finally!   It took a while, but I have now seen the fifth and final season of The Doctor Blake Mysteries .   I am sad to see the show end, but I think it ended on a good note.                 Dr. Lucien Blake (Craig McLachlan) and Jean Beazley (Nadine Garner) are engaged!   After running into conflict after conflict, and problem after problem, Dr. Blake and Jean are finally together.   There is just one little problem.   Lucien is still married.   His wife, Mei Lin (Ling-Hsueh Tang), has agreed to a divorce, but the law is getting in the way.   There are very few instances in which a divorce will be granted, and all will cast either one or both Mei Lin and Dr. Blake in a bad light.   Neither Lucien nor Jean will let Mei Lin be the guilty party in the divorce.   Lucien wants to take the blame instead, but ...
