My Current Interest

               Finally!   It has taken four books, but I am now starting to hear Angela Lansbury’s voice when I read this series .   It’s not all the time.   Just lines here and there where I can hear Ms. Lansbury as Jessica Fletcher say the words on the page.                 Now, with that starting to get in order, I am curious as to why the story says Mrs. Fletcher doesn’t have any teaching experience.   In the TV show she was a teacher for years.   Despite the book series growing, there are definitely still some inconsistencies from the show.                 For years the town of Cabot Cove has been allowed to use the Worrell Mansion as a conference center and park.   That may all change with the most recent heir of the mansion deciding to sell the property to ...

              Let me start out by saying I have never liked Inspector Morse .   At all.   Every time I have tried to watch it, Morse put me on edge.   He was always leering at one woman or another, giving me the creeps.   That is why I could never figure out why he was mentioned with so much love in the show Lewis .   It’s also why, when I saw the same behavior in Endeavour (a show about a young Morse), I decided I wasn’t going to watch that show either.   Lewis was going to be it for me.                 Then something happened.   Episodes of Endeavour started airing once a week late at night.   Since it was always after another show I watched (most likely The Doctor Blake Mysteries ), I ended up seeing bits and pieces before falling asleep.   But it wasn’t until I saw part of an episode with David Oakes that I started to thi...

                Here’s something I don’t understand.   You find out the person you are dating has a fiancée.   Then, when you confront the person about this other woman, they stand there, unable to figure out why you’re upset.   Nor can they understand why you no longer want anything to do with them, no matter what their explanation about the situation may be.   You have a fiancée, we are over.   I really don’t think this is a hard concept to understand.   For Captain Daniel Sullivan, apparently it is.                 Now that Molly Murphy has been in America for a little while and gotten used to life here, she is working really hard on finding a steady job to support herself.   Everything she tries doesn’t quite work out, though.   Her personality and nature do not work well with being a servant.   Working with fish she is...

                   Finally!   I was starting to wonder if Minnie was ever going to figure out her relationship with Tucker.   It still took most of the book, but she finally did.                 Librarian Minnie Hamilton is enjoying the change of weather in her small Michigan town, but it also means the library’s first annual book fair is coming up.   The fair is a lot of work, and despite her boss telling her to delegate, Minnie has a hard time asking other people to help.   She would much rather have her life be as it usually is.   Doing her job as normal, and driving the library’s bookmobile.                 Driving the bookmobile has become a great way for Minnie to get to know people.   One of those people is Henry Gill, a curmudgeon who has quiet ...

            Men can be so frustrating sometimes.   This is especially true when they won’t fully explain the reason behind why they did what they did.   Then, the other person moves on with their life, and the man wonders what happened!   It’s so exasperating.   Yes, Sully, I’m talking about you.                 The production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream is the talk of the town in the small town of Briar Creek.   So many people are trying out for the show, including some surprising ones like the strict circulation desk librarian, Ms. Cole.                 One person who is not trying out is library director Lindsey Norris .   She does agree to help with the costumes, though.   And that is where things start to become sticky.       ...

          A while ago I read an article about different film and TV versions of Pride and Prejudice .   I was shocked to find that the version starring Colin Firth was only vaguely mentioned in a statement about there having been a mini-series at one time.   No offense intended to any other gentlemen who have played Mr. Darcy, but to me, Colin Firth is the one and only Darcy.   In my mind, Mr. Firth epitomizes how this character is, struggling with his feelings, wanting to keep them distant and non-existent, but not able to be rid of them.   So, to have Mr. Firth’s work barely mentioned drove me crazy.   To ease my frustrations, I decided to watch his version of Pride and Prejudice (a mini-series put on by BBC and A&E), and see my one and only Darcy.                 Following the novel by Jane Austen, Pride & Prejudice centers mainly around the char...

            I’m catching up!   There are only three more books to go before I’ve finished the series.   Finished as to what is published so far, I mean.   You never know when another book for a series will suddenly show up.                    Things are not looking good for the bookmobile, no matter how hard librarian Minnie Hamilton tries to save it.   The grant Minnie applied for to keep the bookmobile running was not received.   Then, to make matters worse, a bookmobile volunteer was killed.   Nothing seems to be going right.                 Fortunately, Roger Slade wasn’t on the bookmobile when he was killed.   He was just on the route, taking the place of his wife, Denise.   Roger and Minnie had only met that morning, so they did not know each ...
