Storage Wars

This is a show I came upon by accident.  I had seen the commercials for Storage Wars, but I was never interested.  Then I was watching something else and did not change the channel once it was over.  I am glad I did not.  This show is actually quite fascinating.
When storage lockers miss a certain number of payments they go up for auction.  Bidders come and look at the contents, but they cannot touch anything or even enter the locker.  Afterwards the bidders must decide whether or not they are going to try and buy it.  Then the bidding begins.  This is where it gets frustrating for me.  People who really do not have any interest in the locker will bid just to make people pay more.  I am not into this type of game, but I wait it out because the interesting part is what comes afterwards.
Once the locker is purchased, the winner is able go through and see what exactly they spent their money on.  Sometimes it is not much.  Other times, it is truly collectable items.  The show then follows the winners as they visit different collectors to determine how much their stuff is worth.  This is my favorite part.  Often everyone is in for a big surprise.
While I do learn how much things could possibly be worth on this show, there is a bigger lesson I will always remember.  If you have a storage locker, pay the rent!  If you do not, who knows where your things may end up.
