The Net

This is a freaky movie.  I am completely, 100% serious.  This is not a horror movie, or even gruesome, by any means.  It is when I really think about what the movie is saying that I become absolutely terrified.
Angela Bennett is a computer tech who holds the job of figuring out computer viruses.  Just before she goes on her first vacation in years, Angela receives a disk containing an extremely dangerous virus.  While she knows the virus is important, she does not realize how dangerous it is until later.  That is until it costs Angela her life.
While on vacation Angela meets a man on the beach.  At first she is smitten and enjoys his attention.  Then he tries to kill her.  Due to an accident during an escape attempt, Angela is knocked unconscious.  She wakes up a few days later to discover there is some confusion about her identity.  It takes some effort to return home, but once she does, Angela finds things are worse than she thought.  The man from her vacation and his comrades have used computers to completely change her identity.  Angela Bennett as she knew her no longer exists.  With her life in danger, and only one person really able to help her, Angela is on the run for her life.  She knows all of this has to do with the virus, but she does not know who is behind it, or even fully why.  No matter what the reasons, Angela is determined to get to the bottom of everything and get her life back.
All the things the culprits change by the use of computers is what scares me so much.  What makes me fear more is that they do it so easily.  Watching this movie definitely makes me think twice, if not three times, about our reliance on computers.  And yes, I do realize the irony of my putting this review on an internet blog.  I did not miss that one for a second.
