Love It or List It

Currently I am sitting and watching a marathon of the show Love It or List It.  I have seen this show several times before as it sometimes airs on the weekends.  As I sometimes struggle to find something to watch during the weekday, I was glad to see this show was on.  However, as much as I enjoy this show, nearly everyone on it drives me crazy.
A couple is fed up with the house they are currently living in.  They are trying to determine whether to stay in their home or move.  This is where David and Hilary come in.  David is determined to find a new house for the couple and get their current home listed.  Hilary is going to renovate and show the couple they can love their house once again.  Both David and Hilary receive a list of necessities and a budget.  Their tasks are always a lot easier said than done.
In my view Hilary has a bit of a harder task than David.  She often runs into structural problems that need attention and the budget has a hard time covering everything the homeowner’s desire.  This is not to say David’s job is easy.  It is not by far.  He also has to deal with a budget that frequently does not cover the couple’s expectations.  What they want and what they can afford are often two different things.  Then there is how picky people are, especially the ones who truly do not want to move.  In both situations there are snippy comments and little pausing to see someone else’s viewpoint.
So you are probably asking, then why are you watching this show?
I absolutely love this premise.  Fighting the house seems to be a constant problem for people and one must decide how to deal with it.  For some it is the best decision to move.  Others can make their home workable again with a bit of rearranging and planning.  Watching Hilary’s renovations gives me new ideas as to how to rework a space.  David shows all different kinds of houses and I am always interested to which ones he chooses to show.
Despite the sniping and negativity, this is a good show.  One just has to learn how to roll through the bad parts and enjoy the good.
