Savor the Moment: Book Three in the Bride Quartet by Nora Roberts
Laurel, Vows’ cake and dessert creator, is the main subject of the third book of the quartet. As Parker’s lifelong friend, Laurel grew up around Parker’s brother Del. Over the years, the relationship has been viewed as brother and sister, at least in Del’s mind. Laurel has had a different point of view. For years she has had feelings for Del. Being Parker’s brother and unofficial caretaker of the Vows women, acting on these feelings could be a bit complicated. After all, how do you express yourself romantically to a man who sees you as his sister? Unexpectedly, Laurel finds a way.
One day Laurel’s temper flares and she kisses Del on impulse. There is the initial shock, but this one act sets everything in motion. While they do begin the relationship on what I would call a trial basis, everything works pretty smoothly for the most part. There are a couple of hiccups along the way. One is caused by Mac’s poisonous mother, but the others arise from a lack of communication between Laurel and Del. There are a couple of times where Laurel gets quite angry, which actually I do not understand why, but in the end it helps the relationship move along.
This is a nice story. A little conflict, but not too much. Laurel and Del are a good match. The really exciting part of the book actually was not Laurel and Del. What fascinated me the most was the preview of Parker’s and Mal’s relationship. That, however, is not until book four, which is for another day.
