Five

This film is actually five short films all dealing with breast cancer.  A different woman is the subject of each one, but they are all connected through the oncology doctor.  While all of the women are facing breast cancer, none of the stories are the same.  Each one has a different situation and necessary treatment.  One woman has a double mastectomy while another needs an out-patient surgery.  Then there is what happens personally.  Some must go it alone as their loved ones become distant and leave, while others discover their love is stronger than they ever thought.  The films show that while people may be dealing with the same condition, no two situations are the same.
I will be honest.  These shorts are sad.  How could they not be to some extent?  Despite this, they are well worth watching.  The stories are not only about the women.  I like how the effect this can have on men was included as well.  One male character had breast cancer himself.  It is important to remember how big of a role men can play when it comes to battling breast cancer.  Then there were the children.  There were only a couple, but it shows how everything can affect children as well.
A lot of familiar faces star in these films.  Rosario Dawson, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Tony Shalhoub, are just a few I knew immediately by name.  Nearly everyone else I recognized even if I did not know their name off the top of my head.  The directors were also well known.  Demi Moore, Alicia Keys, and Jennifer Anniston were three of the five female directors.  I am very happy so many people were involved in this project.  Breast cancer is an important issue and it is imperative people see the lives behind the disease.  After all, each situation is unique and every patient is a person.
