Happy Ever After: Book Four in the Bride Quartet by Nora Roberts

I am sad to report, this is the last installment of a lovely series I have greatly enjoyed.   How nice it would be to have the stories go on, but quartet does mean four and here we are.                 The star of this book is Parker.   She is the coordinator, organizer, and all-around fixer of the Vows women.   Every thought, problem, and whim a bride may have goes through Parker, and at all times of the day and night.   She is the one who truly makes sure the brides’ dreams come true.   With this responsibility Parker leads a very controlled and precise life, and she likes it that way.                 Then along comes Mal, or Malcolm, a mechanic who throws Parker’s life off balance.   He reacts to Parker and truly sees who...

Savor the Moment: Book Three in the Bride Quartet by Nora Roberts

Laurel, Vows’ cake and dessert creator, is the main subject of the third book of the quartet.   As Parker’s lifelong friend, Laurel grew up around Parker’s brother Del.   Over the years, the relationship has been viewed as brother and sister, at least in Del’s mind.   Laurel has had a different point of view.   For years she has had feelings for Del.   Being Parker’s brother and unofficial caretaker of the Vows women, acting on these feelings could be a bit complicated.   After all, how do you express yourself romantically to a man who sees you as his sister?   Unexpectedly, Laurel finds a way.                 One day Laurel’s temper flares and she kisses Del on impulse.   There is the initial shock, but this one act sets everything in motion.   While they do begin the relationship o...

The Lord of the Rings

About a month ago, my friend lent me her binder (and I do mean binder) of DVDs.   We had been discussing movies and found out that we liked a lot of the same ones.   There were many recommendations on both sides and that is how I ended up with the binder. The Lord of the Rings trilogy was just a few of the movies.   I have had many friends really like this series and I have never fully watched them.   Pieces I have seen.   Lots of pieces and I have fallen asleep through them quite a few times.   This was the first time I ever truly sat down and watched, at least without falling asleep.   Granted I still did other things as I watched, it is pretty much inevitable that I will do two things at once.   Despite this I could see why people really like these movies and why they did so well. As I watched, I learned quite a few things.   Here is my list of just some of the things I learned from The Lord of the R...

Bed of Roses: Book Two in the Bride Quartet by Nora Roberts

Emma is the subject of the second installment of the Bride Quartet .   She runs the floral department of Vows and is the most romantic of the four women.   Much of this has to do with the incredible way her parents were brought together and how they still show their love for each other today.   Emma grew up watching this love and dreams of one day having it herself.                 That one day takes Emma by surprise when her long time friend, Jack, suddenly shows an interest.   It does not take long for Emma to fall in love, but she is not sure Jack will ever feel the same way.   What makes the situation worse is Jack is friends with all the women of Vows and best friends with Del, biological and honorary brother of the Vows women.   If things do not work out, if Jack cannot love Emma as she...
