Radio Roland Garros

The 2011 French Open has ended.   I was very sad with the men’s result as I wanted my favorite player to win.   He did very well, and I am thrilled, but I am still sad as he was so close to the title.   Despite this, there is a lot to cheer about from these last two weeks.   My favorite player got to the finals, fighting and playing beautiful tennis along the way.   The player second on my favorite list came back from injury to make it to the third round.   I am excited to see his ranking continue to improve after being out for nearly all of last year.   Records were tied on the men’s side, and history was made when the first Grand Slam singles title for China was won during the women’s final.                 During the two weeks, the television broadcast often started ...

It’s Not Really About the Hair: The Honest Truth About Life, Love, and the Business of Beauty by Tabatha Coffey with Richard Buskin

I really enjoy Tabatha’s Salon Takeover , the show where Tabatha Coffey takes a struggling salon and does whatever she can to turn it around.   Sometimes this is successful, other times this is not.   That is not the fault of Ms. Coffey.   The fate truly lies in the hands of the owners and workers of the salon.   She just opens their eyes and puts them in the proper direction.   I think she does such a wonderful job, I often think of other places I would like to send her.   While Ms. Coffey is in nearly every shot of the show, the audience does not learn much about where she came from.   When I heard her book was being released, I was greatly interested to find out.                 This book had a surprise at the start.   Having only seen Ms. Coffey as she is today, I would never have expected she had weig...

Supernatural

I am one of those people that find is difficult to just sit and watch television.   No matter what is on, it is rare when I am not doing something else at the same time.   That is not the case with Supernatural .   I have to sit and watch.   When I try and do something else, I usually find myself drifting to the show and not what I am doing.   This is very frustrating, but I have to watch Dean!                 My brother suggested this show to me awhile back, but it was my friend Jen who really pushed me to start watching.   Now, I have this thing where I do not like to start in the middle of a series.   Books I am most strict on this, but I figured I should start at the beginning with this show as well.   I began to get the series through the mail, and even though I have only seen four discs o...

Ghost Adventures

Gloomy nights are perfect for ghost stories.  Thankfully there are plenty of what I call haunted shows on television.  These are shows full of people doing real life investigations and revealing their findings to the viewing public.  Sadly, my favorite show is no longer in existence.  I do not know if it is airing anywhere in the U.S. and I have read that it stopped filming.  With the loss, I looked into other shows and found one that I continue to watch, Ghost Adventures .  The ironic this is when the show first came out, I could not stand it.  In my mind they were too aggressive and strong in their provocation.  That was not the only thing that bothered me.  At the time I could not pinpoint what the thing was.  Then I read an article where someone mentioned this show.  I will not repeat what was said, but they made me realize that last bothering t...

Murder She Wrote

Laugh at me all you want.   People have before.   I am here to admit that Murder She Wrote is one of my favorite television shows of all time.   It began airing in the 1980s and ended quite some time ago.   As I am unable to find the show on reruns, I watch the DVDs.   Although I would think I have seen all the episodes by now, some multiple times, once in awhile one I have not seen pops up on a disc.   This is always a pleasant surprise.   In any case, new to me or not, I always enjoy watching.                                 The series stars Angela Lansbury as mystery writer Jessica Fletcher.   She lives in the town of Cabot Cove, Maine but travels extensively both for business and to vis...
